About the Campaign

For decades, charities and governments have spent trillions trying to "save" the world from hunger and poverty. Yet, every day, we see images of starving children around the world desperate for help. This year, billions of additional dollars will be spent on quick, short-term fixes — but because they won't address the root causes of hunger and poverty, we will — again — see billions of people needlessly suffering.

This campaign is pulling thousands of voices together to say "Enough Is Enough!" Women and men, young and old who understand the importance of feeding a starving child today but who also know we must ask the question ... how does that help the child tomorrow, or next month, or ten years from now? People like you, who know the simple truth that we can't "save" the world but we CAN change the world by helping our neighbors save themselves.

Stop Saving the World is a chance for you to stand up, take the pledge and tell the world that you're tired of seeing band-aid approaches to huge issues ... You're tired of seeing hand-outs rather than hand-ups ... and you're certainly tired of the real, proven solutions remaining a secret.

The world is ready for real ... lasting ... change. Join us!

About World Neighbors

World Neighbors is unique. It does not save the world by offering quick fixes or giving away anything — food, materials, money or new buildings. It does not offer short-term solutions that leave the communities still struggling with daily problems.

Instead, World Neighbors gives hope to some of the most deprived people on earth by helping them find real solutions to their lack of the most basic and important human needs: clean water, nutritious and adequate food, literacy training and healthy hygiene practices.

World Neighbors addresses the big picture, focusing on the entire community, rather than on one issue. Our successful work centers around recognizing that no one can address one problem without solving all of the interrelated problems. Families cannot adopt healthy methods for improved hygiene and sanitation without access to clean water. Or, if a community has enhanced water sources, but improved farming practices are not addressed, there will still not be enough food.

World Neighbors stays until communities become strong enough to maintain their own initiated activities. The average time is 8-10 years. The goal is to achieve long-lasting improvements in peoples' lives and the community, not quick fixes that depend on outside assistance.

Since 1951, more than 25 million people in 45 countries have transformed their lives with the support of World Neighbors.
